Anesthesiology A device which rests in the hypopharynx and has an inflatable cuff that surrounds the glottic opening; its proximal end is similar to standard endotracheal tubes, and is used to deliver anesthetic gases for spontaneous or controlled ventilation. See Endotracheal tube.
