Lithuanian Geese
Lithuanian Geese
domestic geese raised in the Lithuanian SSR. They are represented by two varieties—Viŝtinès and Pulkinės. The former variety is of greater economic importance. The plumage of Lithuanian geese is predominantly white; however, some mottled and gray geese are encountered. The ganders weigh between 5.5 and 6 kg (sometimes up to 8.5 kg), and the female geese between 4.5 and 5 kg (sometimes up to 7 kg). Egg production is 25–30 or more per year. The eggs weigh approximately 170 g. The geese fatten well. The goslings weigh 3.5—4.0 kg by the age of 70 days.
