motor neuron, motor neurone

A nerve carrying MOTOR impulses. The upper motor neurons have their cell bodies in the surface layer (CORTEX) of the brain and their axons running down the spinal cord. The lower motor neurons have their cell bodies in a column at the front of the spinal cord and their axons running out of the cord in the spinal nerves.
