 [aw″to-ek″o-la´le-ah] parrotlike repetition of words and phrases initially uttered by the patient himself; seen in catatonic schizophrenia and in certain cerebral degenerative disorders.

autoecholalia

A near-extinct term for the repetition of a phoneme or phrase that a person says him- or herself; this contrasts with echolalia, in which the speech echoes someone else’s speech. This difference has blurred and the terms are used interchangeably, with the latter being preferred.
