North Korean Won
North Korean WonThe currency of North Korea. It was introduced in 1947, replacing the Korean yen. For some period of time before 2001, it was pegged to the U.S. dollar at a rate of 2.16 won to one dollar, but this has been re-adjusted because the won's black market value was nowhere near the peg. The won is an inconvertible currency. Visitors must use foreign exchange certificates in North Korea officially, but many vendors simply accept foreign currencies.AcronymsSeeKPWNorth Korean won Related to North Korean won: South Korean wonSynonyms for North Korean wonnoun the basic unit of money in North KoreaSynonymsRelated Words- North Korean monetary unit
