Location:Central Mississippi, 60 miles north of Jackson.
Facilities:Boat ramp (é).
Activities:Fishing, hunting, wildlife observation.
Special Features:Each winter the brake provides habitat for more than 30,000 ducks. Neotropical migratory birds use the refuge during migration seasons throughout the year.
Habitats: 2,418 acres of bottomland hardwoods and young hardwood plantations, moist-soil plants around the Mathews Brake.
Access: Open year round during daylight hours.
Wild life: White-tailed deer, squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, largemuth bass, crappie, catfish, prothonotary warbler, cattle egret, ducks, bald eagles, and American alligator.
