macular translocation |
| 释义 |
macular translocation macular translocationSurgery involving movement of a flap of retina containing the fovea to an area of healthy retinal pigment. It is performed experimentally to treat age-related macular degeneration. Synonym: macular rotation surgerymacular translocation A new technique for treating age-related MACULAR DEGENERATION. The procedure involves moving the fovea of the eye so that it lies over an area in which the underlying tissues are healthy. The most effective procedure appears to be a full translocation achieved by a peripheral 360 degree retinal incision and rotation of the free retina by 25 to 50 degrees so as to place the fovea over healthy tissue. The retina is then reattached with laser burns. |
