Lapparent, Albert-Auguste
Born Dec. 12, 1839, in Bourges, department of Cher; died May 5, 1908, in Paris. French geologist. Member of the Paris Academy of Sciences (1897).
Lapparent graduated from the Higher Mining School in Paris in 1864. His principal works dealt with various geological questions. He wrote textbooks on geology, mineralogy, and combustible minerals, which went through several editions. Lapparent helped prepare a detailed geological map of France.
