Anjoman

a body of local power or of urban or regional self-government in Iran. The first anjoman was formed in Tabriz during the Iranian Revolution of 1905–11. Democratic anjomans also arose between 1918 and 1921 and again in 1945 and 1946, when the democratic movement was experiencing rapid growth.
