(meth-en'ă-mēn sĭl'vĕr), A hexamethylenetetramine-silver complex prepared by adding silver nitrate to methenamine; a white precipitate, which dissolves upon shaking and is stable under refrigeration, appears in the solution; used in various histological and histochemical staining methods.
