Lanthanosuchus

Lanthanosuchus

a genus of fossil amphibians of the subclass Batrachosauria. They existed in the late Permian epoch. The only species was L. Watsoni. The skull was rounded and had an alveolar surface. The teeth were without complex folding of the dentin, which distinguishes Lanthanosuchus from most ancient amphibians, including the Kotlassia, to which it is closely related. At the same time it has certain features of structure that are characteristic of the ancient reptiles—the cotylosaurs. Lanthanosuchus was a predator and inhabited marshes. Its remains have been found in the USSR.
