Mackie's syndrome

A corneal disorder featuring small areas of epithelial drying and disruption near the margin on the nasal and the temporal side, sometimes with the formation of a distinct depression (dellen). The condition, which is common, is the result of abnormal blinking in wearers of hard contact lenses. If neglected, it may progress to PINGUECULA and even PTERYGIUM.
