Mach technique

A control technique used by ATC (air traffic control) in which turbojet aircraft operating successively along suitable routes are cleared to maintain an appropriate Mach number for a relative portion of the en route phase of the flight. This is to ensure improved utilization of airspace and that the separation between two successive aircraft does not decrease below the established minimum.
