land, tenements, and hereditaments
land, tenements, and hereditaments
In keeping with attorneys' practice of using three words when one will usually suffice, you often see the expression “land, tenements, and hereditaments”in real estate instruments. It is meant to describe all the rights capable of being owned and enjoyed. Land is the dirt and everything natural under it,attached to it,and the air above.Tenements are any structures attached to the land, and hereditaments are any interests in real estate capable of being inherited.
