Motacillidae

a family of birds of the order Passeres. The body is 13–22 cm long. The neck is short, and the tail is comparatively long. The wings are generally pointed. The family’s five genera comprise 57 species, which are found all over the world. Many of the Motacillidae are migratory. In the USSR, there are 15 species, belonging to the genera Dendronanthus, Motacilla, and Anthus. Mostly terrestrial, these species inhabit open spaces and feed on insects and other small invertebrates.
