Landolphia

a genus of plants of the family Apocynaceae. They are large lianas with thick trunks; some are shrubs or herbs. The leaves are opposite. The flowers, which are five-parted and often have a pleasant fragrance, are in panicles or corymbs. The fruits are berry-like, juicy, large, and often edible. There are 55 species, distributed in Madagascar and in the savannas and tropical forests of Africa. About 15 species of Landolphia are rubber plants; the rubber is obtained from the bark of the trunks and branches or from the rhizomes and roots.
