Night Sky Light

the illumination of a clear sky at night consisting of atmospheric and extra-atmospheric components. The major atmospheric components are the intrinsic luminescence of the upper atmosphere (see) and atmospheric light originating from the earth or beyond the earth. The extra-terrestial component includes the total radiation of the stars and of interstellar gas, zodiacal light, and gegenschein.
