Oshmiany

a city and administrative center of Oshmiany Raion, Grodno Oblast, Byelorussian SSR, located 17 km from the Oshmiany railroad station on the Minsk-Vilnius line. Population, 10,000 (1974). Oshmiany has a creamery and flax-processing and bread-baking plants. Other enterprises include the Oshmiany branch of the Lida production combine of the meat and dairy industry. The city also has an agricultural technicum and a museum of local lore.
