landing forecast landing forecast A forecast intended to meet the requirement of local users and of aircraft within about one hour's flying time from the airport. Landing forecasts are of two types: self-contained and trend-type. A self-contained forecast consists of a concise statement of the expected meteorological conditions at the airport concerned and contains any or all of the following elements: surface wind, visibility, significant weather, and clouds. A trend-type forecast consists of a routine, special, or selected special report for an airport to which is appended a concise statement of the expected trend of the meteorological conditions at the airport. This forecast includes changes with respect to one or more of the following elements: surface wind, visibility, weather, and clouds. Only those elements are included for which a significant change is expected. However, in the case of significant changes with respect to clouds, all cloud groups, including layers or a mass not expected to change, are indicated. In the case of expected changes in visibility, the phenomenon causing the reduction in visibility is also indicated. The period of validity for both these reports is two hours. |
