Land and Factory ZIF

a Soviet combined state and joint-stock publishing association from 1922 to 1930.

ZIP published individual works and collected works by many Soviet writers (for example, V. la. Shishkov, P. V. Gladkov, I. E. Babel’, A. S. Novikov-Priboi, D. Bednyi, and I. G. Erenburg) and classics of foreign literature (by such writers as J. London, A. France, and E. Zola). The mass series entitled The Workers’ and Peasants’ Library published works by A. P. Chekhov, V. G. Korolenko, L. N. Tolstoy, and others. The series The Library of Satire and Humor and The Library of Russian and Foreign Criticism were also issued. The ZIP Publishing House also brought out the journals 30 dnei, Vsemirnyi sledopyt, Vokrug sveta, and Zemlia Sovetskaia and the almanacs Zemlia i fabrika and Rovesniki. In 1930, ZIP merged with the State Publishing House of Literature.
