Abai Steppe

 

a valley in Central Altai, situated between. the spurs of the Kholzun Range on the southwest and the Terektin Range on the northeast, at an altitude of approximately 1,100 meters. The steppe, 25 km long and from 6 to 9 km wide, is drained by the Koksa, Abai, and Aksas rivers (of the Katun River basin). It is covered with steppe vegetation and has low-lying marshes in its northwestern and western parts. Most of it is cultivated.
