LAMTOR1

LAMTOR1

A gene on chromosome 11q13.4 that encodes a regulator of the TOR pathway, a signalling cascade that promotes cell growth in response to growth factors, energy levels and amino acids. As part of the Ragulator complex, LAMTOR1 recruits the Rag GTPases and the mTORC1 complex to lysosomes, a key step in amino acid activation of the TOR signalling cascade, and anchors the Ragulator complex to membranes. It is required for late endosomes/lysosomes biogenesis and may regulate both endosomal recycling of receptors and MAPK signalling by recruiting some of its components to late endosomes. LAMTOR1 may be involved in cholesterol homeostasis by regulating LDL uptake and cholesterol release from late endosomes/lysosomes. It may also play a role in RHOA activation.
