A fatty liver lacking histologic features typically associated with alcohol abuse, which primarily affects overweight women. With time, patients develop portal changes such as interface hepatitis, increased portal inflammation and fibrosis, and autoantibodies.Risk factors
Diabetes, obesity, hypertension, gallstones, hyperlipidaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia.
Pathogenesis
Uncertain; possibly oxidative stress and lack of antioxidants.
