(môrväN`), mountainous region, E central France, in Nivernais and Burgundy. The northernmost part of the Massif Central, this heavily forested region rises to 2,959 ft (902 m) at Bois-du-Roi. Cattle raising and the production of charcoal are the chief industries. The Yonne River rises in the Morvan. A large nature park was created there in 1970.Morvan
