Orthogram
Orthogram
(1) A consistently reproduced means of representing in writing a phonomorphological feature of a given language. In Russian, for example, the ending for adjectives in the masculine singular genitive (pronounced in isolation [ovʌ]) is written -ogo, as in dobrogo (pronounced [dobr’vʌ]). In English, to take another example, the ending for verbal nouns is -tion[∫ǝn], as in “facilitation.”
(2) A spelling corresponding to the rules of orthography.
