line-operations simulation line-operations simulation (LOS)A term associated with LOFT, or line-oriented flight training. LOS is synonymous with the term full-mission simulation but only in the context of LOFT and not for any other purpose. LOFT is the use of LOS for training purposes. Any other use of LOS should be expressly stated. For example, LOS can be used to aid in the development and evaluation of operating procedures and new equipment, proficiency checking, pilot selection for new-hire programs, or cockpit human factors research. |
