Affidavit of Domicile

An affidavit issued by the executor of an estate stating the residence of the decedent at the time of his/her death. Before securities can be distributed to heirs, the executor must issue an affidavit of domicile to ensure there are not outstanding liens against the estate in the jurisdiction of the decedent's residence. An affidavit of domicile is notarized and is made under penalty of perjury. It is also called an affidavit of residence.
