Murovdag
Murovdag
a mountain range in Transcaucasia, in the Azerbaijan SSR; the highest range in the Lesser Caucasus. The Murovdag Range is about 70 km long; its highest point is Mount Giamysh at 3,724 m. The range is composed chiefly of sedimentary-volcanic strata. The range’s crest line is rocky, and its slopes are highly dissected by gorges. Mountain-forest landscapes predominate; in the zones below the crest line, however, mountain-meadow and meadow-steppe landscapes are common.
