Morskoe Bol’shoe Ozero

 

(Mainychin-Ankavatan), a lake in the Yakut ASSR, in the northeastern part of the Kolyma lowlands. Area, 205 sq km. The shores are low-lying and not very jagged. Fed by snow and rain, the lake freezes in late September and opens in June. It is the source of the Ankavaam River, a tributary of the Bol’shaia Chukoch’ia River. Nearby is the Maloe Morskoe Ozero, or Mokachen-Ankavatan, with an area of 58.2 sq km.
