Lindsey, Gail Lindsey, Gail (1945–2009)A pillar of the green building movement, Lindsey was the founder of the Wake Forest, NC, environmental consulting firm Design Harmony. She had been chair of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) and led more than 200 workshops and programs on green building, including the Greening of the White House, the Greening of the Pentagon, Sustainable Design Initiatives for the National Park Service, the U.S. Department of Energy’s International Green Building Challenge, the Sustainable Design Training Program of the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program. A cocreator of the LEED Rating System, she was one of the first 12 LEED trainers for the U.S. Green Building Council. She also helped create the Army’s SPiRiT rating system, which contains checklists and strategies for maintaining sustainable facilities. |
