Oblique Aerial Photographic Surveying

Oblique Aerial Photographic Surveying

the photographic surveying of a locality from the air with a fixed inclination of the optical axis of the camera. This makes it possible to cover large areas at one time (especially if the camera is set on a rotating stand to obtain panoramic photographs) and to reproduce nearby objects on a larger scale. However, the oblique method introduces significant complications into the mapping process. It also makes it difficult to determine the dimensions and shapes of distant objects.
