lycopodium[‚lī·kə′pōd·ē·əm] (materials) A yellow powder prepared from the spores of Lycopodium clavatum ; used as a desiccant and absorbent. Lycopodium a genus of evergreen herbaceous plants of the family Lycopodiaceae. The numerous spikelets are apical and dense. They consist of an axis with spirally arranged sporophylls, on the upper side of which are the sporangia. The subulate leaves are on unflattened branches.
