one-stop clinic
one-stop clinic
A clinic in which a person with a known lesion (e.g., a breast mass identified by a GP) of as-yet unascertained nature (benign vs malignant) undergoes a multi-modality evaluation (physical examination, imaging, and fine-needle aspiration cytology and biopsy). In most (average, 96%) cases, the person leaves with a definitive diagnosis and is already booked for further therapy, if needed. As used in the UK, clinic refers to a purposed session with a healthcare professional, rather than the physical location of the service, as understood in the US.
