a city (a settlement until 1962), the administrative center of Lagodekhi Raion, Georgian SSR, located on the Lagodekhi River, a tributary of the Alazani, 38 km northeast of the Tsnoris-Tskhali railroad station (the terminus of a branch line from the Tbilisi-Telavi line). Population, 8,100 (1972). The city has a tobacco-curing plant, a fruit- and berry-wine plant, a winery, a cannery, and an essential-oil factory. There is an agricultural technicum in Lagodekhi. The Lagodekhi Forest Preserve is nearby.
