LinariaLinariaa genus of plants of the family Scrophulariaceae. They are perennial or, less frequently, annual grasses with numerous slender alternate or verticillate leaves. The flowers are bilabiate and gathered in racemose or spicate inflorescences. The fruit is a capsule. There are approximately 150 species, distributed in the northern hemisphere outside of tropical regions, primarily in the Mediterranean region. More than 60 species are found in the USSR, mainly in the Caucasus and Middle Asia. Common toadflax, or devil’s-flax (Linaria vulgaris), is a common weed that grows among crop plants; it also grows in sandy areas along roads and forest edges, in pine forests, and on slopes.
