Lady Fern

(Athyrium filix-femina), an herbaceous perennial plant of the family Polypodiaceae. The leaf blades are bipinnate or tripinnate. The sori, which are elliptic, falcate, or hooked, are situated along the lateral veins of the leaf blade segments. The indusia have incised edges and shed when ripe. The lady fern is found in the forest zone of the northern hemisphere, growing in damp, shaded places. The plant is used as an ornamental and medicinally as an anthelmintic.
