Moritz Cantor


Cantor, Moritz

 

Born Aug. 23, 1829, in Mannheim; died Apr. 10, 1920, in Heidelberg. German historian of mathematics.

Cantor worked at the University of Heidelberg from 1853 to 1913. His work (Lectures on the History of Mathematics, vols. 1–4, 1880–1908) contains reference material on the history of mathematics and covers the period from the most ancient times to 1799 (the fourth volume was written by a group of authors under Cantor’s editorship).
