释义 | MinturnaeMinturnae(mĭntûr`nē), ancient town of Latium, Italy, 7 mi (11.3 km) E of Formia. It was important because it controlled the bridge on the Appian Way over the Liris River. Founded by a people called the Aurunci or Ausones, it became a Roman colony (295 B.C.) and a flourishing commercial center. There are important ruins (including an aqueduct), two theaters, forums, and other buildings N of modern Minturno. |
