Olitsky, Jules

(1922– ) painter; born in Snovsk, Russia. Emigrating with his parents to America in 1924, he studied in New York City (1940–42) and in France (1949–51), and he lived in New York and Meredith, New Hampshire. A color-field painter using staining techniques and spray paint, he taught at C. W. Post College, N.Y. (1956–63), and at Bennington College, Vt. (1963–67).
