Nolinsk

(from 1940 to 1957, Molotovsk), a city, the administrative center of Nolinsk Raion, Kirov Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the Voia River, a tributary of the Viatka, 143 km south of Kirov, with which it is linked by highway. Nolinsk has a meatpacking plant and a creamery; felt footwear, toys, clothing, and asphalt are produced. There is a general repair shop and a hatchery. A technicum specializing in the mechanization of agriculture is located there. Nolinsk was founded in 1668 as a rural settlement and has been a city since 1780.
