(1) Medical and other services provided to a non-admitted patient by a hospital or other qualified facility—e.g., mental health clinic, rural health clinic, mobile X-ray unit, free-standing dialysis unit.
 
Examples
Physical therapy, diagnostic X-ray, lab tests, outpatient services.
 
(2) A service provided in less than one day—i.e., up to 23 hours and 59 minutes—at a hospital outpatient department or community mental health center.
