Ortho-Bionomy

Ortho-Bionomy

A method of structural integration that was developed in the 1970s by a British osteopath and bodyworker, AL Pauls, with the goal of restoring structural alignment and balance through gentle movement and postural adjustment, which release tension and holding patterns. Ortho-Bionomy replaces long-term patterns of misuse with new patterns of balance and self-awareness; the patient is encouraged to adopt postures that are comfortable, rather than idealised postures. The technique is believed to be effective for arthritis, stress, muscle pain and occupational disorders, including repetitive motion injury, rheumatic complaints and sports injuries.
