单词 | moral crusade |
释义 | moral crusademoral crusadea SOCIAL MOVEMENT, e.g. Mary Whitehouse's National Viewers’ and Listeners ‘Association, in which members seek to mobilize support for the reassertion and enforcement of legal and social sanctions in defence of what are seen as fundamental moral values. Often, but not exclusively, these movements attract members with strong religious affiliations. In some sociological accounts, the suggestion is that they tend to attract members with particular personality needs, e.g. AUTHORITARIAN PERSONALITY, but there is no indication that this applies generally to membership. See also MORAL ENTREPRENEURS, PRESSURE GROUP. |
