释义 | Marshall, RobertMarshall, Robert(1901–39) forester, conservationist; born in New York City. A field researcher for the U.S. Forest Service in Montana and Alaska, he became director of forestry for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (1933) and worked to involve Native Americans more fully in the management of their forests and ranges. He was a forceful advocate of government ownership of commercial timber lands. As a private citizen, he helped found the Wilderness Society in 1935. |
