i. For wake turbulence categorization purposes, an aircraft certificated for a maximum takeoff weight of 15,500 lb (7000 kg) or less. Aircraft with a certificated maximum takeoff weight of more than 15,500 lb and less than 300,000 lb (136,000 kg) are termed medium aircraft, and those with 300,000 lb (136,000 kg) or more are termed heavy.
ii. In general, a light airplane that seats no more than four persons, with a gross weight of 3000 lb (1350 kg) or less, which is primarily used for recreational flying or flight training.
