Lulonga

Lulonga

 

a river in Zaire, Central Africa, a left tributary of the Congo (Zaire) River. It is formed by the confluence of the Lopori and Maringa rivers. Length from the site of the confluence, 180 km; length from the source of the Lopori, approximately 1,000 km; basin area, approximately 77,000 sq km. The river flows in a broad valley. It is deep, with insignificant fluctuations in the discharge throughout the year; maximum discharge occurs from October through December. The Lulonga is navigable to Basankusu (180 km from the mouth); the Lopori River is navigable to Simba (454 km from the mouth); and the Maringa River is navigable to Befori (408 km from its confluence with the Lopori).
