Lukuga

a river in Central Africa in Zaire, a right tributary of the Lualaba, which is the upper course of the Congo (Zaire). Length, 350 km; basin area, 271,600 sq km. It flows out of Lake Tanganyika. The river is full of rapids and is navigable only in a short section near the mouth. Deposits of coal in the Lukuga basin are mined for local needs.
