Lukh

 

an urban-type settlement; center of Lukh Raion, Ivanovo Oblast, RSFSR. Lukh is located on the Lukh River, a tributary of the Kliaz’ma, 32 km southeast of the Vichuga railroad station, on the Ivanovo-Kineshma line. There are vegetable-drying and dairy plants in Lukh, as well as a stitched embroidery factory. There are large lily of the valley plantations in the Lukh region, which are used in the medical industry.


Lukh

 

a river in Ivanovo and Vladimir oblasts, RSFSR, a left tributary of the Kliaz’ma River, in the Volga basin. The Lukh River is 240 km long and drains an area of 4,450 sq km. It is fed mostly by snow, but with a sizable amount of rain and some groundwater. The water level of the river varies within a range of 4.5 m. The average water discharge at a point 109 km from the river’s mouth is approximately 17 cu m per sec. The Lukh freezes over at the end of November and thaws in April.
