Oredezh

(also Konevka), a river in Leningrad Oblast, RSFSR, a right tributary of the Luga. The Oredezh measures 192 km long and drains an area of 3,220 sq km. It is fed from various sources; karst waters constitute a substantial proportion in the upper course. The mean flow rate 36 km from the mouth is 20 cu m per sec; the flow is regulated by small hydroelectric power plants. The Oredezh freezes between the second half of November and the first half of January, and the ice breaks up in April. The lower course is navigable.
