Assets Column in Bookkeeping

one of the two sides of a bookkeeping balance sheet, in which the assets of a business (its property) are grouped according to their function in the production process. Assets of the A section of the balance sheets for basic operations of production enterprises show the fixed capital and other noncirculating investments. The assets of the B section show working capital for which standard rates are laid down, such as production inventories, work in progress, and finished products. Assets in the C section are unstandardized working capital, such as money, goods dispatched to customers but not paid for, and accounts receivable. Assets of the D section show capital investments if there is no separate capital investment balance sheet. Assets of the E section show expenditures on forming the prime herd (in agricultural enterprises).
